Processes of Leather wear in Ghana



     Although leather  is  derived from different kinds of animals,it  can be described as a durable and a flexible material created by the  tanning of animal rawhide and skin,or a material made by removing the  hair from animal skins and preserving  the  skins using special processes.It   can be  produced through manufacturing processes ranging from cottage industry to heavy industry.
    Leather has  for many years been part of human lives which still exist in modify way.Leather  comes  in many forms  which some  includes,vegetable-tanned leather which is  tanned using tanning and other ingredients found in vegetable matter,such as tree bark prepared in bark meals,and other similar sources and rawhide leather which is made by scraping the skin thin,soaking it in lime and  then stretching it while it dries.

    Leather making and processes are commonly done in the three northern regions of Ghana,namely Upper East,Upper West and the Northern part.The specific town noted for the making of leather in the Upper  East   region is Bawku
